Affordable Divorce Overview

Think you can’t afford the best?

Contested divorce article

There are special considerations for divorces involving those with lower incomes. Those with higher incomes don’t necessarily have to worry about paying an attorney, but obviously this is a big concern for those who have lower incomes. At Nevada Litigation Group, we don’t want you to go into court against a spouse without a lawyer, and we also don’t want you to have to worry about being able to pay for counsel. We provide affordable divorces.

Flat Fees

Many attorneys charge a retainer (when you pay an attorney a large sum of money up front to hire them for your case. It is kind of like a deposit, and is good either for the entire duration of the case or for a time period specified by the attorney. and then bill you hourly for their time. Nevada Litigation Group operates differently. We do unbundled work on a flat fee basis, meaning that there is a set affordable price for agreed-upon work.

Payment Plans

Nevada Litigation Group also takes low down payments and offers convenient weekly or monthly payment plans. Why do we do all of this? Because we believe that the law should be accessible to everyone, regardless of income. There is enough stress involved with a divorce – you shouldn’t have to worry about paying an attorney too.

FREE consultations

In addition to all of that, Nevada Litigation Group offers free initial consultations, so that you can speak with a lawyer about your case without having to worry about paying the attorney for the hour, and decide whether or not you want to proceed with your divorce.

If you need an affordable divorce, know that Nevada Litigation Group is willing to work with you to get you the best results possible.

Affordable Divorce: A More Detailed Look

Divorce is one of the most stressful events that can happen to you. If you have children this stress is compounded. Even those with great financial resources have to spend time, money, and effort to fight in a system where things can drag for months. Unfortunately, those with few financial resources have more burden as they try to come up with money for a lawyer.

Anyone who reads the news has seen it all. For example, a single mother left with no food and shelter finds it difficult to pay a high lawyer retainer. A father who has been abandoned finds it impossible to pay for both child care and a large payment plan. In addition, the other spouse may try to intentionally put pressure on you so you cannot afford a great lawyer. They may steal your money or get a Court order for some type of support.

We have developed some plans to assist those people experiencing financial challenges but who still want the best lawyer possible.

But before listing our plans, how good is our lead attorney?

Our lead attorney has appeared in Court over 5,000 times and drafted over 11,000 pleadings. He was a Nevada Top Lawyer in 2013, earned the Ask-A-Lawyer Community Commitment Award for Pro Bono Service in 2009, was seen/heard on CCN and AM970. He also excelled in law school graduating from UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law in 2007 where he excelled: 1st Place Co-Winner: 2005 Clark County Bar Client Counseling Competition; 3rd Place Co-Winner: 2006 ABA Regional Client Counseling Competition; CALI Award: Contract Theory; Society of Advocates Member/Competitor: 2006–2007; Student Bar Association Vice President (eve.): 2005-2006; Family Law Community Service: Spring 2005; and law student extern at Family Court. Most importantly he clerked with a Family Law Judge which is one of the highest honors available to an attorney and provides an internal perspective of how Court really works.

So Exactly How Do We Help?

It begins with the consultation. Our attorney will sit with you for as long as it takes to determine exactly what your legal problem is and what solution is recommended.

At that point he will list all of the services you need and using both experience and a chart of past average times for each project he will estimate the time needed. Then a financial person who specializes in assisting those with financial challenges will meet with you to come up with a down payment and affordable payment plan.

The question most ask is how can you do this? Don’t some cases take longer than others. Yes, every case is different. But let’s look at the economics of this method. Assume 2 clients Ms. A and Mr. B each of which have a contested case. Ms. A’s case drags out for a year. Mr. B’s case settles quickly. Ms. B is happy because we settled her case. Mr. B is happy because he did not have to pay excessive fees for a drawn out affair. And even we win because, economically, it averages out for us because in total the cases took the average time. The more clients we have the more the math averages out and the more all clients are happy. Luckily for us, we have the reputation to always have sufficient clients.
